Unsolicited Explanations is the first poetry book published by an outstanding writer.

No better title could have been chosen for this compilation of poems. Here the reader will encounter the deepest root of the author’s literature, but he will not drink from a wellspring of clear water. Poetry, the authentic, flows from darkness, lives in the murky and does not abide by transparent and pure habitats, as it turns invisible among the crystalline. Obsessions, catharsis, discontinuities and inconsistencies, politics and idleness, astonishment, Eros and Thanatos, shamelessness and meanness, humor and hope, crises and resurgences, some epiphany and many readings, a great deal of literature behind him. All of these navigate through the darkness of the deep sense dwelling in beauty, yet there is no reason to do so as here Ignacio del Valle does not need to justify himself. His poems are expressionist portraits depicting fleeting moments as in Duchamp’s "Infrathin".

Poems such as "Penn Station" and the one giving title to this book, "Unsolicited Explanations", are just two among the many remarkable examples.

Quoting Edgard Morin "I am the author of my other books, this is me". The self of a writer who undresses to recognize himself. Never a better mirror than a concave poem.
